In 1980 several area business leaders created an informal association to help promote their businesses to prospective brides and grooms. From that small start, the annual Bridal and Prom Show has grown to be the gala event it is now. The Newaygo Area Bridal Business Association is a voluntary organization of wedding professionals and vendors in Newaygo County, Michigan. Its purpose is to improve communication among wedding professionals, uphold the highest professional standards and provide a guide to brides and grooms in choosing vendors. The assocation accepts membership from only those companies with a proven track record of excellence both in the products and services they offer and in their business practices.

All members of the Newaygo Area Bridal Business Association agree that they will abide by the Association's Code of Ethics.

• Conduct their business in a professional and ethical manner.
• Provide customers and prospective customers with timely, complete and unambiguous information about all prices, products and services, options and contract provisions.
• Communicate professionally with customers, potential customers, suppliers and other business contacts, returning telephone calls and answering letters and emails promptly.
• Offer professional courtesy to other wedding professionals.
• Respect intellectual property rights of others, including trademarks and copyrighted materials.
• Follow all business licensing requirements for their type of business and keep all licenses and permits current and in good standing.
• Honor all contracts and other agreements with customers, suppliers and other business associates.

Applicants for membership must meet these qualifications:

• Be in business, either full-time or part-time, providing goods and/or services for weddings and wedding-related events (e.g., showers, rehearsal dinners, etc.)
• Be legally entitled to do business in Michigan and in their principal place of business, as shown by appropriate professional licenses and permits.
• Agree to follow all provisions of the Newaygo Area Bridal Business Association Code of Ethics.
• Be in good standing with all contracts and agreements with Newaygo Area Bridal Business Association and/or its affiliates.
• Be sponsored for membership by a current member in good standing.
